About Us

The MacLaurin Society, or MacSoc as we are best known, is The University of Glasgow's Mathematics and Statistics Society. Named after the Scottish Mathematician, Colin MacLaurin, we have been around since the 1950's and are still going strong today!

Since the 1950’s we have been organising and hosting both academic and social events on campus.  We aim to help you on your educational and career paths as well as give you a fun and informal way to meet people with similar interests. We also offer the Maths drop in help room sessions for first and second year maths students which is an opportunity to ask questions on your courses in an informal setting. As a society we aim to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for everyone!
