 The MacLaurin Society

Welcome to MacSoc!

Picture
The MacLaurin Society, named after the Scottish mathematician Colin MacLaurin, has been the University of Glasgow's Maths and Statistics Society since the nineteen fifties. This year we are sponsored by the Institute of mathematics and its applications.

Our main focus is on organising events for our members, from traditional cheese and wine nights to pubcrawls or careers information events and puzzle nights, and in doing so we aim to create a friendly supportive atmosphere in the department. These events provide a great chance to meet more students, and staff, who are happy to share their experiences studying maths and stats and answer any questions you might have. You don't have to be studying maths or statistics to join, membership is open to anyone with mathematical interests!

Information for events will be posted on here, on our Facebook group, and also advertised around the department, so keep an eye on the MacSoc noticeboard on Level 2/3 for information.

Membership this year is £4 and you can join at any event throughout the year.

If you want to know any more don't hesitate to get in touch!
